The Let Down That is Blogger Beta

Well it’s not terrible, but neither is it all that I’d hoped and dreamed either. The biggest disappointment is the template modification. They promised a new drag and drop format, which seemed perfect for someone like me (a total gonad when it comes to HTML). Problem is that that’s all it is: drag and drop. I can move my bio to the bottom of the page (whoop!), or swap the position of my links with the position of my archive (yowzah!), but I can’t change the graphic in my header or even frig around with column width. I’m gonna have to go ahead and learn something if I want to pretty up this site. Stupid Blogger, forcing me to learn stuff.

But I do like the addition of labels.

And the drop down menu for the archive.

But why they couldn't have made a drop down menu for the archive is beyond me.

Blogger Beta has apparently made you a slutty comment whore.

Oh yeah:

They're brothers, and they're cops...

Where is this mysterious beta?

Baby...I really don't like the new blog format. What happened to the link to wasted time? Why is your profile picture so far down the page. Yuck.
I love you, though.

Jay: Now that I've migrated over, I forget where the link was. I think it showed up on my dashboard, but it's not there now cause I've already switched over. Be warned though of the following perils:
- it 'upgrades' your template, which will axe any customization you've done in the past (except for links)
- you will not be able to comment on non-beta blogger sites in the normal way. Rather than choosing your Blogger identity, you'll have to choose Other
That said, there are some perks. Damned if I could name them, though.

Sarah: It's actually the YouTube links that have pushed my sidebar to the bottom. But yeah, I forgot I had to replace the Wasted Time and Armada links after the template update. And awwwww, I love YOU!

Good to know - I've been offered the opportunity to go to Word Press, and I may go with that instead of playing around with Blogger Beta (Jorge, you may now commence with the cheering)

And you could always have a drop down menu for the archives. You just had to play with the code a bit.

Dave playing with code is like Dave playing with himself.

He ends up making a mess after about 2 minutes of fiddling.

I should add...

... that two people were instrumental in my joining Twitter. First, Isha . She sent out an article on it when the application was still brand new. (And I remember thinking, "Screw that noise. Like I need more online commitments.) Second was Rebecca . She joined up just a short while ago, claiming she hadn't met a bandwidth she didn't like . (And then she disappeared entirely from the internets .) It looked nice and pretty over there on her sidebar, and then I got a little jealous. The rest: history. And for those unobservant among you ( Jorge ), the Twitter feed is right there on my sidebar, replacing the old Radio 3 player that I loved, but that I think scared the bejezus out of a lot of people. Also, everyone should join Twitter. I'm needing some diversions , people.
Change Two: Drink More Water Such a simple thing, yet something I just can't seem to find the time to do. About the only water I drink in your average day is whatever sweat happens to trickle off my mustache. Hydration (so the smart people tell me) is a good thing. I'm less fatigued when I drink water. I'm less hungry when I drink water. I'm even less grumpy when I drink water. I promise you nothing especially impressive. Eight glass a day ain't gonna happen. I'm shooting for two on average; two trendy, metallic, not gonna bleed Bisphenol A into my system bottles of water. I know were off to a rip-roaring start, what with the list-making and the hydration, but I'll try to get crazier with future changes. Stuff like: go to work drunk more, and buy a pair of leather pants. For now, let me ease into it.
