March 14th - discuss amongst yourselves

If your life had a soundtrack, what songs and artists would be featured? And be honest, folks; don't make yourself out to be cooler than you actually are. I know I'd like to say that You Shook Me All Night Long and Running With the Devil would be on my soundtrack, but in truth we all know that the A&W song is more my speed.

Damn, you and me walkin' along to the A&W song. That sounds like wuh-wuh time to me.

For me, I am not really sure, as I fit into tons of different types of music.

Anything by Force of Nature, or Yoko Kanno would probably fit nicely. But for those who don't venture out of North America for music...

Stuff by Basement Jaxx, Beethoven, And John Baptiste Philouza.

Jimi Hendrix, Foxy Lady

And only because I love the way every man who hears that song immediately goes into the Garth dance. It's great. If I could walk around amid all those Garth dancers, I could never frown again.

And it would be true, Jay. :)

Here's the CD I packed for leaving the comfy confines of North America. It is, quite literally, the soundtrack of my life these days.

Derrick Harriott and the Jiving Juniors - I'm going overseas

Keren Ann - Not going anywhere

Wax Mannequin - The Price (live on CKDU)

Destroyer - Canadian Lover

Marion Black - Who knows?

BA Johnston - Asteroids

Saturday looks good to me - Since you stole my heart

MIA - Galang

AC Newman - Drink to me

Al Green - Tired of being alone

Beck - Lost cause

Gil Scott Heron - Whitey on the moon

Bob Marley - How many times

Dead Prez - Hip Hop

Jason Collett - Tiny ocean of tears

Happy End - Kaze Wo Atsumete

Dismemberment Plan - Superpowers

Desmond Dekker - Get up Edina

Old Man Luedecke - In the fall

Otis Redding - Don't be afraid of love

Tilly and the wall - I can't believe you

Jens Lekman - Black Cab

Gym Class Heroes - Taxi driver

Xiu Xiu - I luv the valley oh!

Sam Cooke - I'll come running back to you

Mary Tyler Moore theme - Love is all around

It's basically aural wallpaper at this point.

I don't know if I would consider it the soundtrack to my life, but for a time I listened to just about anything that appeared on the Ninja Tune record label.

I think Zoom Zoom is more your style. Or the theme to Poporn.

Popcorn too...

Not sure what the soundtrack would be these days, but I am constantly working towards making it just about anything by Jimmy Buffet.

What, no Merle Haggart?

I should add...

... that two people were instrumental in my joining Twitter. First, Isha . She sent out an article on it when the application was still brand new. (And I remember thinking, "Screw that noise. Like I need more online commitments.) Second was Rebecca . She joined up just a short while ago, claiming she hadn't met a bandwidth she didn't like . (And then she disappeared entirely from the internets .) It looked nice and pretty over there on her sidebar, and then I got a little jealous. The rest: history. And for those unobservant among you ( Jorge ), the Twitter feed is right there on my sidebar, replacing the old Radio 3 player that I loved, but that I think scared the bejezus out of a lot of people. Also, everyone should join Twitter. I'm needing some diversions , people.
Change Two: Drink More Water Such a simple thing, yet something I just can't seem to find the time to do. About the only water I drink in your average day is whatever sweat happens to trickle off my mustache. Hydration (so the smart people tell me) is a good thing. I'm less fatigued when I drink water. I'm less hungry when I drink water. I'm even less grumpy when I drink water. I promise you nothing especially impressive. Eight glass a day ain't gonna happen. I'm shooting for two on average; two trendy, metallic, not gonna bleed Bisphenol A into my system bottles of water. I know were off to a rip-roaring start, what with the list-making and the hydration, but I'll try to get crazier with future changes. Stuff like: go to work drunk more, and buy a pair of leather pants. For now, let me ease into it.

Discuss Amongst Yourselves - January 30th, 2006

In case you don’t read my comments (and if not, you’re nuts cause that’s where all the good stuff is), Courtney has just declared herself movie illiterate. So, if you had to recommend five essential movies that everyone should see, what would they be? Let me stress: only five. For those of you with break-the-rules tendencies (like--I dunno--just picking a name out of the air... Jorge ?), your comment gets chucked out. Give’r.
